The Great Chasm is a giant ravine that divides the Basement into two unequal parts. The smaller half is the one connected to the Forest, and also where the Sneech colony is located.
In the past there were multiple human-build stone bridges across the Chasm, but all but one were destroyed after the Nome War to prevent Sneeches from reaching the other side of the Chasm.
